Racism On Social Media!

19 Apr

Below is the racist rant found on Facebook! Please forward this to everyone you know and take a stance against open racism and hate speech on social networks!

Ken Sinclair status: Seriously, seriously, seriously had enough of the blacks in this country. Arrogant fucking swines, and I will make it my facebook status because I want them all to know. You are all fuck all without whites, you would still be in your little mud huts. Go on as if we owe you everything, we owe you shit! Expect everything for nothing and have the biggest attitudes I have ever come across. You will all fall short sooner or later…karma Ya like every fucking day u walk along and mind your own business and they walk straight into u as if they own the place, no decency to walk behind one another, in their mind the white must get out the way. Wherever you go they stand and stare you up and down as if youre some piece of shit. They always skinner in their retarded language. Their attitudes towards things are a joke, by far the laziest people I have ever come across. You go to the UK, the black people there are decent, its just these local SA fuckers that are so stuck up. And its bullshit man, its racism on another level, yet if a white says anything about it we are now “racist”. Fuck them, theyre the biggest bloody racists. And no I wasnt status bombed, if youre a darkie lover then go fuck one

If you arent a racist, go spend a day at Cape Tech, in town, you will wana join the KKK when you are done. Fucking brain dead monkeys

comments by others: All i will say ryt now, is ur opinion on the world changes seeing it from different eyes, u are fully entitled to ur opinion, and anyone that attends our tech will know it, no matter what race you may be, there is a different breed out there ruining our education and our complete matter of being.

yeh maybe this isnt the ryt way to spit it out there, but ken has a point. Dont let it get inbtwn gud ppl tho?? ANYWAY. aslong as they not striking as usual:)

His reply: Exactly Sam…all I’m trying to say is that it was always seen as whites being the racists, yet no one considers them being the racists? Theres something about university students that I just cannot take. Old black people, that actually suffered the shit of apartheid, are possibly the nicest people you can come across, humble, kind old people. But these youngsters of today seem to think that they are owed everything, yet they didnt even go through it. And people that havent been to varsity cant have a say because they arent exposed to it. But they seriously seriously are ruining our education and our country. And its about time we speak up man

other comments: Tomorrow will be better day Ken.

his reply: I hope so Ange..this week has been so kak so far…purely coz of being around them

other comments: The students at UCT in Res are some of the most dedicated… Way more dedicated than any of the other students…

his reply: good for them

other comments: taking freedom of speech to a new level!!

his reply: Ya needs to be said. People are to skaam to open their mouths

other comments: Ken, I know how you feel brother, I studied at the Belleville campus, was the worst, don’t let it get you down though.

his reply: haha ohhhhh shit! That place needs flood lights on to see where you going. Dunno how you managed that

other comment: I didn’t, that whole place is going to fucking hell. So glad I left. So much happier dude.

his reply: hahaha Alex!! Ya man, I’ll just stick it out, not too long left

THE LAST COMMENT, MAY SHOCK YOU:

“Sometimes i just wanna pull out a fucking pump-action shotgun and do the deed.FUCK”

A reply by Anna: “ken with all respect, your status and consequent comments are riddled with generalizations and racist ideology. there is a difference between freedom of speech and hate speech. your misguided views encroach upon the dignity of an entire group of people, which shows your intolerance and arrogance. and your arrogance is exceeded only by your ignorance. your blanket generalizations made from your seemingly petty observations have no legitimate ground. your insinuation that this country belongs to white people and that the presence of black people is an encroachment of your right to it is rather ignorant. it shows your deep lack of understanding of the history of this country. quite frankly if you have these negative views, perhaps your presence in the UK would be welcomed. just to recap your words about “blacks”, “arrogant fucking swines” “fuck all without whites” “retarded language”. the irony of these words showcase your white supremacist indoctrination and lack of real education. emancipate your mind!”

His reply: “ya because blacks are idiots. just cause you cant get white guys doesnt mean you must now hate on us? if youre stupid enough to believe whites arent supreme then it shows your lack of knowledge…what has a black ever invented? Rome 2000 years ago was more advanced than Africa today…so maybe you need to brush up on your knowledge? But you like having sex with blacks, which in my view is fucking disgusting, but thats my opinion so whatever, go fuck some more blacks”

Hahahaha I hear hell is cozy in the winter..have a nice trip… :) its sad that there are still people who think like this man and share his ideology…I will admit, there are some black people who are ignorant…some…putting all of us under one blanket is a tad bit unfair…its like a woman who’s been raped and hates all men…I feel sorry for this man…and with that said..fuck you sir…hope you burn in hell..

Um, why is there no mention of other people’s names? Such as the comment made by another person (not Ken)that says: “Sometimes i just wanna pull out a fucking pump-action shotgun and do the deed.FUCK”. That’s way more offensive than what Ken said. It’s almost as though you are trying to tarnish his name. & if you read correctly, he is talking about people in his university. He is not generalizing, he clearly stated that the older generation of black people are some of the nicest people that he knows. You don’t know how he is treated DAILY at his university, so you can’t see things through his eyes. I think you need to do your homework, or better, sort it out with Ken himself instead of making him look bad and trying to make yourself look like Mother Theresa, coz you definitely aren’t.

My initial reaction would be to respond in the same manner you did!but just to make one thing straight you truly have no insight nor have you read the information as the comment about wanting to shoot non-whites is provided. In no way am I portraying myself to be a matyr. Public perception of me is none of my concern. What bothers me is how in a democratic state and in todays society he would have the audacity to even post a status like that all because he deals with his so called injustices at university which he claims to be brought upon him by non-whites! I would love to speak to him but taking into account my race, he refuses to reason with, as he says “brain dead monkey”. Just one more thing, before you comment please do yourself the favour of reading properly and remember that everyone goes through what they call injustices but no one exercises their right to freedom of speech to the extent that it amounts to hate speech!

      Thank you.

Ja, what has been said by ken is morally intolerable, he could have disclosed his enger in a way that will be taken with ease by both the white and black supremists. It is hard to consider his mistreatment as an offense due to his blatant behaviour, he is insulting blacks in Africa, so where does he expect them to settle ? You don’t want then in other continents, so let them settle at their mother land

This guy needs a psychological assistance, and I don’t think that will come from anyone of us, I think he must consult the white supremecy intitution maybe theymust give him a better indication as to where he can locate that.

Dearest Chanel and “anon” and whoever agrees with Ken’s update… I do not mean to victimise you or put you on the spot because, like Ken, you are entitled to your own opinions but have you ever considered how such content affects black people?… The younger generation may be “rude and ignorant” but you must understand that sufferage is part of our Heritage. Africa may not be as technologically advanced but it is a gross injustice to blame “black people” for this. We all live in Africa and claim it when the time is best for us but the minute it goes bad, the blame is automatically turned to the ignorant negros… The purpose of such information being shared is irrelevant when compared to the nature of Ken’s status. The nature at hand is not one man’s opinion but the alarming fact is that there is a certain doctrine going around among white people in their views of black people. Why can we not strive for a better tomorrow, to be different from our parents who fought a battle that we seem to be wanting to fight. Why not all look to a better day where we could look past external skin colour to the person on the inside and not be so obviouslt affected by the next person… What pains me is that even as I type these words I’m acknowledging that it’s nothing but a dream.

I am not in a position to condemn anyone and would sincerely like to extend apologies to all people who have gone through negative experiences at the hands of black peopole they are ignorant but do not use a blanket criterion to describe the others you see around and meet from day to day.

Why are you writing your responses as though you have been told to write an academic history essay? Talk like a normal human. I didn’t say that you didn’t provide me with the comment: “Sometimes i just wanna pull out a fucking pump-action shotgun and do the deed.FUCK”, i was asking why you didn’t put that guys name? Do you not read properly. All I was saying is that you don’t seem to be making people aware of racism on social networks because it is the right thing to do, but rather because you have your own personal issues with Ken. I can assure you if you saw some randoms status that was racist you wouldn’t have reacted in this way. You are an attention seeking “wannabe” lawyer. People always go on about race and racism in South Africa and how they are trying to fix it. You aren’t fixing it, you are just adding fuel to the fire. If you feel so strongly about this then contact him and sort it out between the two of you instead of making a blog.

Maybe I should make a blog about you calling us “WHITE TRASH” last year, on the 20th of November, to be specific. That is racism is it not?

I would have understood if you used these words as an example of racism on the internet for your little blog but to put his name shows that you have some underlying agenda

        April 19, 2012 at 11:08 am

The only agenda is that this was on OUR Facebook walls and not posted by some unknown troll on the Internet. It’s happening in OUR community and we will not stand by this at all. Funny thing is that the ‘blacks’ he is referring to aren’t on his Facebook wall but at varsity…

Chanel, yet again i think you are missing the point. You seem to be replying from the view point of a protective girlfriend trying to clean up your boyfriend’s mess. However, there is and never has been an underlying agenda. As to your derogatory remark towards my “little” blog, the word little being the derogatory part, do you have an underlying agenda?

The screen shoot have been sent to press so no one is being censored or hidden in anyway… This is a blog and not a newspaper so we’ll let them sort that out. It seems to me that the main point of your argument is the exclusion of the names of people who commented yet you are not coming out right and saying whether you condemn or support your boyfriends hate speech rants. You say that he doesn’t generalize yet his first line is: ‘Seriously, seriously, seriously had enough of the blacks in this country’ He then goes on an insult rampage… He makes a comment saying UK blacks are ‘decent’ and when brought to book by a very knowledgable young lady his first reply is ‘ya because blacks are idiots.’ This isn’t racism, it’s simply hate speech! This is a young person who went to a multicultural high school, if this is how he acts, we can be very worried about our future!

This is how I respond. If you find it offensive then I have words for you. And what constitutes a “normal human being”? I don’t even know Ken, why would I suddenly have personal issues with someone I do not know nor have I ever met? I have seen status which made racist remarks and have highlighted them. Correct me if I’m wrong but are you agreeing that the status written by your boyfriend is racist? You said “I can assure you if you saw some randoms status that was racist you wouldn’t have reacted in this way” by saying that you are putting them in the same boat. Which then begs the question, why are you still arguing? Your following comments about me being a wannabe lawyer, further illustrate your lack of relevant comment. As to the white trash comment that you saw, yet no one has seen I would like to see this comment!

This dude need exorsicm perfomed on him. The Diablo in him is troubling his soul deeply.

In some instance you wonder why are black people being attacked in this manner…we have cause no harm to anyone. @Mzwa, let me correct you a bit in your sentence stating there is some ” black people are ignorant”…whether you are trying to be defensive about yourself and character you poses in society against this son of bitch hate speach on young black generation and black people in general. The truth is, the bunch of ignorant people in all races…starting by this white supremist.

Too bad for him, black people are here to stay…it’s like someone trying to be xenophobic with me cause I am not south African and living in SA, I respond to them in very sarcastic way, only the ones with nothing in the pocket will react in this way, secretely some mamble and whisper between their ears but the human race is just corupted, lost and evil in nature. Love comes from God and only those who embraces it shines. Everything start with how happy are you as an individual. So this dude…he has serious pain deep in him. I pray to God to help him find love, joy and Happiness within.

so you think it’s alright to put this on facebook? The word “Nigga” is racist as well.

    • ceoplatinumbarb

      April 19, 2012 at 11:19 am

Dear, the word nigga is colloquial in the above usage. Secondly, this word was “reclaimed” by those its was used to hurt. This was to take away the power of that word. The question then is, are you saying that African people should be calling themselves “brain dead monkeys” until its an accepted term?

      • melissa

        April 19, 2012 at 11:33 am

It doesn’t matter if it’s a “colloquial” word or not, it is still seen as offensive. Why would people want to “reclaim” a word that was used offensively?

      • ceoplatinumbarb

        April 19, 2012 at 11:50 am

If you had read the above comment, you would have seen why people want to reclaim such a word. Its the same reasoning as people wanting to reclaim the word “poes”.

To answer your question, taking the power away from those who would wish to offend you is the point of reclaiming words as most rappers have argued.

first of all this blog has been made for the wrong reasons, the person who made this blog has not made it cause she is against racism, but because she has a problem with ken and people, her goal is not to fight against racism but to make kens life hell, i am all for fighting racism but i will not tolerate some little girl going on a little mission to ruin someone’s life because she has a problem with him. it is an invasion of privacy to publicly display what goes on kens profile, whether it is right or wrong

Dear Anon, first your baseless accusations are just that, baseless. Please enlighten me on this problem that I have with Ken. You fight against racism and yet you do not leave your name. As for my little mission, Ken’s statements were insulting to say the least. Me showing other people this gross violation of human rights is not a little mission. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech, and Ken exercised that right on a public platform. The right to freedom of speech is limited to not infringe on other’s freedoms. In the same coin, are you saying the same people who exposed the boys at the University of Free State, were wrong in showing private videos?

        April 19, 2012 at 11:35 am

The status was shared on HIS facebook for HIS friends. Not in a public area or in front of the people he was referring to. It is his private page where he can surely write what he wants to. If you don’t like what he wrote, don’t be his friend? It is as simple as that. There are worse groups on facebook concerning racism and people leave that alone, so why can’t you leave his personal opinions alone as well?

First of all, Facebook is a public forum whether you made a post on your personal profile or not. Secondly, some of the people he was referring to were friends with him on facebook. Thirdly, the post as you can see is aimed at all black people. As for being able to say what he likes please see the preamble, chapter 1 and chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa Act 108 of 1996.

More than anything what I don’t get is why people are defending this. On top of defending this idiot, they using baseless arguments, like fb being a private platform, get real!! And why is this girl vehemently defending this idiot, are they really dating, if so, she needs to get her head checked! Another stupid argument coming out is this attacking of the blogger, how is that even relevant when there wasn’t much of a personal opinion in the blog, all she did was copy and paste a status update and comments! And finally, who cares if Ken’s life becomes hell, that would be a good thing, he deserves at least that!!
We all have bad experiences through people everyday, but that doesn’t mean you go and attack every single person in that race! It was a bad day, that’s it! It was caused by black people!!

And finally, go # yourself Ken!!

You know what’s most upsetting about this post is that everyone wants their say in it, but no one stops to think about ‘Ken’ gets treated. I had a similar experience where I went to a OK in Roodepoort and I was the ONLY white person there, and to add to it I had my baby boy with me, I was bumped with trolleys, pushed out of lines, called ‘white trash’ and ‘milkybar slut’ by almost every black guy there and when I eventually got to the till, the teller was a black female and she just refused to help me.

How can you say we don’t understand the history of our country when our country’s history is mostly about pain, farm murderings, political socialism, a fight for the white man just to get a job, a fight for survival and everytime I walk in town I have to be on full alert not to get attacked again? How is that a history that we should be proud of if any, I’m ashamed of it!

WELL SAID!!! It is a complete invasion of his privacy. Surely he should give permission to have his name posted on some blog? And obviously none of the people commenting understand because they are the ones who are given first preference for everything in this country nowadays.

Anon, if you had taken the time to read other blogs posted you would actually see that the preference system you refer to in my opinion is foiled.

Have you read the privacy policy on Facebook? You’d be amazed to see that you no longer have the right to the material posted and any one, even some blog, can utilize the material posted.

Lizzy, first I feel sympathetic for your experience and those people should also be brought up. The difference between you and Ken, is that you did not go on a social platform with hate speech. Ken acted and this is the reaction to his action. As Newton said “every action has an equal and opposite reaction”.

As for the history of our country, you seem to have neglected the 400 or so years of slavery, theft, rape, mutilation and psychological terrorism inacted by white people on black people. Yes its sad that there has been blows both to blacks and whites in our country. Ken’s post is not in anyway a means of fixing this. Same as Malema’s outbursts were a blow to the country and to our national pride. This post was a means of awareness so that we would be able to talk about these issues.

      • anon

        April 19, 2012 at 11:42 am

So if you want to talk about it, why are you making it such a huge deal and sending it to the press? Why can’t you come talk to him face to face and sort it out like that. It is honestly so childish.

      • ceoplatinumbarb

        April 19, 2012 at 12:22 pm

With issues like these a discourse has to be started with both the victim and the victimiser. (I am not saying that Ken is either the victim or the victimiser). Ken’s comments and gripe were aimed at all black people therefore the discourse would have to be with those people included. Thus, me personally speaking to him face to face would not sooth anyone.

“As for the history of our country, you seem to have neglected the 400 or so years of slavery” i would like to reply on the following post, yes there is no excuse on the slavery and it is in no way right at all, but there are plenty of compensations in this country. how long must we pay you back?? i thought the way forward was to move forward together and not sit back on the wrong doings of the past. i feel the biggest problem is the issue of double standards, i have often been called ‘ white fucker’ and when i once asked a black person for food i was told ‘ i dont give food to while people’, yet when i brought it up nobody made anything of it. but when it is in turn a racial remark about a black person there is a completely different response. when masses of people sing kill the boer, it is in the paper but nothing is done about it. i feel we need to move on from these double standards, instead of beating on ‘ken’ as i feel he would not just simply make remarks like this without having a reason to be angry. and i once again feed back to THIS BLOG WAS MADE WITH THE WRONG REASONS, this person who made this blog is getting what she wants by this response

      • ceoplatinumbarb

        April 19, 2012 at 12:33 pm

The emotional response would be first of all it is 400 years of oppression, 18 years of democracy is not adequate time to heal those wounds. That said, I am going to move away from the emotional response because it does not help. As I have stated before, the inadequacy and double standards of the current system are feeding in to these wounds and possibly making it worse. The aim of this blog was awareness and enlightenment of not only black people but Ken as well. Racism is like a weed, the only way to get rid of it is to pull out every single outgrowth. I hope Ken has learned that his actions were wrong. I also hope that black people also see themselves in his comments and ammend their ways.

Ken, you clearly lack the basic intellect needed, to both comprehend, as well discuss your ignorant tyraid. Reasons for this, simply put, if you had taken the time to listen to your idiotic self-proclaimed, so-called rightousness, you would realise, that you are in fault of violating the following basic human rights, that each, father, mother, son, and daughter are lucky to have in this country. Here are some examples of the South African constituition, (which might take some time for you to spell out, and prounounce coherently):

Epuality.+l) Everyone is equal before the law and has the right to equal protection
        and benefit of the law.
        (2) Equality includes the full and equal enjoyment of all rights and freedoms. ‘.: to promote
the achievement of equality, legislative and other measures designed to protect or advance
persons, or categories of persons, disadvantaged by unfair discrimination may be taken.

*(4) NO PERSON may UNFAIRLY DISCRIMINATE directly OR indirectly against anyone on one
or more grounds in terms of subsection (3). National legislation must be enacted to prevent or
        prohibit unfair discrimination.
        (5) Discrimination on one or more of the grounds listed in subsection (3) is unfair unless

Dear Koos, it is important that we all remeber that “There is power & creation in a word. Be careful of words that leave your mouth. you may not be able to control what you create”. I think if we all had this in mind, we would all be happier.

Do you really think that this country is not aware that these are the thoughts of many white people…how is doing this going to change anything?all it serves to do is bring ken down..although many people don’t state these thoughts on fb this is generally the feeling a lot of whites get.aside from the violence I agree on the way that we get treated and almost looked down upon.not all black people, but rather a small percentage of them.ken is speaking out of frustration and if he is being treated like that, does he not have a right to vent his frustration at those people..it may be wrong to generalise all blacks as idiots because that is not true.this country is flowing with talented ambitious black people..before this blog was made it may have been better to sort this out with ken and find out his motives for saying this before u created this..

“ken is speaking out of frustration and if he is being treated like that, does he not have a right to vent his frustration at those people..” Ken has every right to speak freely however his word choice amounts to hate speech. Maybe it would have been better if Ken had picked a better platform to voice his opnion or his feelings where he would not injure innocent people.

Sweethearts, people of all races suffer ill treatment from other people (also of all races) on a daily basis. When Ken is offended by a white person does he write angry, lengthy posts about how fed up he is with white people? I find it unnecessary to highlight all the various ways in which the post is racist and unacceptable and your inability to see this shows your underlying attitudes as well. As for your objection to naming and shaming the author of these foolish posts, If Ken Sinclair did not want to be linked to these remarks, he simply shouldn’t have made them. If your tertiary education isn’t enough to exorcise your ignorance, then perhaps the social networks on which you display it will! We will not put up with racism!

  14. KEN SINCLAIR

    April 19, 2012 at 12:27 pm

Can everyone, namely Anastasia, the people against my status and the creator of this blog please read this:

I want to clear a few things up, because this is all been taken way out of proportion. I understand that how I wrote the status and portrayed black people in South Africa was not the correct way to do things. I honestly meant NO harm by creating this status, I was simply in an outraged mood yesterday when I made it because of how many black people at my university have been treating me lately. It seems as though racism is very rife towards whites in this day and age. No one should try and argue with this point as I know A LOT of white people who will share stories of how they have been treated, whether it be by fellow peers or the people who should be protecting us – the police.

People who are not white cannot comment on this next piece you simply would not know what we go through. When I walk around, whether it be at Varsity on on the streets, I am always the one who has to move off the pavement or out the way so that black people can walk past, they never EVER have the decency to walk in single file, rather they will walk straight into you. I was walking with my bag over my right shoulder a few days ago and saw people coming, so I thought to myself, oh gosh, another wall of people coming at me and literally thought let me brace for impact as I had no where to go in the passage…just as I thought, BAM straight into me and knocked my bag right off my shoulder and then I get shouted at by them in Xhosa, and looked at in a disgusted way. I think this is pathetic and no matter what your skin colour you should always have common courtesy to walk in single file rather than straight into someone when you can clearly see there is NO space to walk side by side. This is just ONE example out of many many occassions!
This was my last straw and is what made me post that status in absolute rage.

I know this is not an excuse but every single black person (around my age) seems to have no decency toward me at all, even though I have done nothing to provoke this, and I dont see why I should keep putting up with this and its not seen as racist towards me?

The same with the police, I was walking down one of the streets in the southern suburbs with another good friend of mine a couple of weeks ago at around 8pm, still light, and was told by a cop van to stop. So my friend and I looked at each other and thought what is going on? Maybe a burglary has happened and they suspect us? We went towards the cops, they told me to put my hands by my side so my friend and I laughed thinking this was some sort of joke, the second I laughed, the one black officer drew his gun (this is dead honest, I have a witness) and said you dont take me for a joke, I can shoot you! I was in absolute shock and obviously never reported it as I would be going straight to where they work and get laughed at. I told my parents, and my friends dad as he is a lawyer, and he told us both to just leave it, its not worth the unnecessary hassle.

Another occasion, over the past few months we have had numerous items, such as extension leads and drills stolen from our property, one got caught by combat force, he had dropped the lead so we had no proof of him being caught red handed but the combat force officer saw him running from our property, this thief was a black man.

This is a prime example of people wanting everything for nothing! Why must my parents, and myself work hard for our money to have some guy come take our stuff for free?

Last year, I needed a small percentage to pass one of my subjects, this particular lecturer always had an issue with me, you can ask any of the people in my class, she was a black woman, and whenever I asked for help I would be ignored, she walked right past me many times proceeding to help other students and excluding me. This is my future, I came there to learn, not to be excluded and be belittled by someone who has an unknown issue with me. This is unproffesional. A fellow student in my class needed over 100% for his final exam in order to pass, obviously not being possible, yet his final mark was 50% on the dot in his report. My mark remained at 33% after I had redone all of my work and had it checked by my friend who got 90% in this class. Now does this seem fair in anyway at all? I now have to repeat this class again, at inconvenient times, wasting my time, life and fuel of travelling because of someone who couldnt be proffesional in her field of work.

I would like to end this off by saying once again, I apologise to anyone I may have offended, I know for a fact there are wonderful black people, my maid is one of the nicest people I know and I have no issue with her at all, we laugh and joke on a regular basis with one another. I just made this status to try and show people that the media is quick to jump at any racism towards black people as it grabs huge amounts of attention, yet racism towards white people seems to be something that just doesnt happen or is ever spoken about? And permanently gets ignored.

This is why I generalise, because the majority of black skinned people I come across treat me like shit and look me up and down like im some worthless human being. Its not on guys, Apartheid ended 18 years ago now, my generation had nothing to do with it anyways so this racism against whites seriously needs to stop! I mind my own business, I dont ever look for reasons to go hating on black people, its just it seems as though they all have something against us whites to this day, and thats why I made such an angry status.

Lastly, the female who blew this whole thing out of proportion has an issue with me as her best friend (my girlfriend) basically wrote her off after calling us white trash over the phone and this is her way of getting back at me, not against “stopping racism”. Hence why all the comments such as “I wana blow their heads off with a shotgun” have no names next to them, to try and make me look like only “bad guy” in this whole thing.

I would just like to say one more time, I apologise to anyone else I offended, but hopefully you can see things through my eyes now, rather than hearing single sided views.

    Regards,
    Ken Sinclair

How do you know it was Xhosa they shouted at you with, it could have been Zulu…There are black students in Stellenbosch that could tell you the exact same thing! You don’t see any of the posting ‘shoot the B…’ on facebook.. ohh just imagine that… i agree with you black and white people suffer from racism, we must work to fight racism… however instead of being one to bring on change and ADDRESS the issue you flat out become a racist yourself! Dear Ken, before I begin to respond to what you said, I want you to know that I will be quoting your text and reply directly.

“People who are not white cannot comment on this next piece you simply would not know what we go through. When I walk around, whether it be at Varsity on on the streets, I am always the one who has to move off the pavement or out the way so that black people can walk past, they never EVER have the decency to walk in single file, rather they will walk straight into you. This is just ONE example out of many many occassions!
This was my last straw and is what made me post that status in absolute rage.”

These actions were wrong. There is no denying it and I myself have experienced the pushing and shoving first hand. That is to say I am not defending these actions and in fact believe that such people should be more careful with what they do and treat other people. I always say one’s actions and intentions are not known and tend to contradict one another.

“I know this is not an excuse but every single black person (around my age) seems to have no decency toward me at all, even though I have done nothing to provoke this, and I dont see why I should keep putting up with this and its not seen as racist towards me?

I told my parents, and my friends dad as he is a lawyer, and he told us both to just leave it, its not worth the unnecessary hassle.”

These actions should not be ascribed to black people only but to an incompetent police force. There have been occassions where black police officers have assualted black people for no reason which is against the law. I too have experienced this. I do not condone the actions of these police officers and honestly reporting them would not be an unneccesary hassle it would have be a citizen fulfilling his responsibility.

“Another occasion, over the past few months we have had numerous items, such as extension leads and drills stolen from our property, one got caught by combat force, he had dropped the lead so we had no proof of him being caught red handed but the combat force officer saw him running from our property, this thief was a black man.

This is a prime example of people wanting everything for nothing! Why must my parents, and myself work hard for our money to have some guy come take our stuff for free?”

Crime is not racial. It happens to all races.

“Last year, I needed a small percentage to pass one of my subjects, this particular lecturer always had an issue with me, you can ask any of the people in my class, she was a black woman, and whenever I asked for help I would be ignored, she walked right past me many times proceeding to help other students and excluding me. I now have to repeat this class again, at inconvenient times, wasting my time, life and fuel of travelling because of someone who couldnt be proffesional in her field of work.”

I hope you took the necessary actions to deal with the lecturer directly. There are many other possible reasons as to why she acted inappropriately. Race is not the only one. I am not defending her. Her actions as you potray are grossly repungnant and she should be dealt with by the proper channels.

“I would like to end this off by saying once again, I apologise to anyone I may have offended, I know for a fact there are wonderful black people, my maid is one of the nicest people I know and I have no issue with her at all, we laugh and joke on a regular basis with one another. I just made this status to try and show people that the media is quick to jump at any racism towards black people as it grabs huge amounts of attention, yet racism towards white people seems to be something that just doesnt happen or is ever spoken about? And permanently gets ignored.”

This statement confuses me. Are you saying that because you have befriended a black person and employed one, that your remarks were not insulting? Not only to black people but to your “friend” as well.

“This is why I generalise, because the majority of black skinned people I come across treat me like shit and look me up and down like im some worthless human being. Its not on guys, Apartheid ended 18 years ago now, my generation had nothing to do with it anyways so this racism against whites seriously needs to stop! I mind my own business, I dont ever look for reasons to go hating on black people, its just it seems as though they all have something against us whites to this day, and thats why I made such an angry status.”

Your motives are clear. Racism of any kind is despicable to say the least. But your actions have not in any way made the situation better, in fact they have made it worse.

“Lastly, the female who blew this whole thing out of proportion has an issue with me as her best friend (my girlfriend) basically wrote her off after calling us white trash over the phone and this is her way of getting back at me, not against “stopping racism”. Hence why all the comments such as “I wana blow their heads off with a shotgun” have no names next to them, to try and make me look like only “bad guy” in this whole thing.”

As I have stated previously, I do not know your girlfriend or you. The phone call you are talking about did not happen. I do not want to get back at you because I do not know you. Your comments were insulting and amounted to hate speech, that is why this blog came about.

How can you say that phone call never happened? You were not there when Ana phoned my girlfriend. I was there listening to every word on loudspeaker.

You have clearly, clearly misunderstood everything I have said and seem a bit incompetent of reading text properly. I have APOLOGIZED for generalizing and who I offended, I am just stating WHY I have anger towards these people. Because all of the ones I have dealt with have in some way angered me and I know I shouldnt have worded my status in such a way, but I’m trying to explain my motives for doing this.

I can go on and on with many more encounters, even things like how blacks can have “black groups” and black universities in America etc etc, yet if whites did that it would be racist?
Quite frankly you may call me what you want and I dont care what you have to say anymore, you have seen my views and opinions, if you dont like it, well thats unfortunate.

Ken, it would be better if you were more clear by using names as illustrated in the quote. This is not Ana’s blog. I replied to this saying that phone call never happened because your girlfriend accused me of using the term “white trash” against you on the 20th of November last year.

Rather say Mrs Khoza “our” maid, bcos she’s ur elder and she ‘may’ have been sidelined by apartheid not to be a Doctor or Lawyer. U wud’nt like it if i was to refer to Mr Sinclair (ur dad), who’s +30yrs my senior, as my gud gardenboy Piet, IF THE TABLES WERE TURNED, wud u??? It’s the little things that count. So “Ken” was justified in saying what he said cause it was on his profile? The ideologies that he has do not stem from just his experiences, some of his beliefs stem from a wide misguided knowledge about black people. White people are by A LARGE extent still privileged in this country, I do not understand why you resist change (which affects both whites and black) so much. Black people still have to go by the systems that were set up in order to try fit in. They still have to learn english in order to get some education, their accents are ridiculed and it is made to seem as if they are uneducated. No white person is required to learn a South African language…you may say you have to learn Afrikaans but this was the oppressors language which blacks had to learn too. Its still very much the “white way” or the highway. Its interesting that 300yrs of oppression and deep discrimination which still affects a large majority of the African population has to be forgotten and every one must just hold hands and live their lives and blacks should stop crying. Education about this area is needed for every race in this country or things will not change.

To the “niggas in paris” poster comment, don’t take it out of context, that poster was named after a song by two prominent African American rappers. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the rappers (the people hosting the party are black btw).

yes ok 800 years of oppression on black people is a long time and there would obviously still be issues because of that, but the people who were affected are no longer with us, so why can’t the people who live in this day and age move on with their lives instead of moaning and groaning about what their ancestors went through. Jewish people have been subjected to humiliation, violence, oppression and segregation since the beginning of Christianity, 6 million of them were slaughtered in the holocaust, do you still see them making an issue about it with Germans? NO. because they have moved past it, just like black people whose ancestors were affected by oppression should move past it too, instead of moping about it and expecting everything for nothing. You need to focus on yourself and your own life for things you want, and work for it just like everyone else and stop focusing on who owes you what from 800 years ago.

No white person needs to learn a different South African language because English is an international language, so it makes no sense to learn a language that cannot be understood anywhere else in the world. So that is why everyone is made to learn English…actually doing black people who speak Xhosa as their home language a favour, as this will get them somewhere in the world concerning a job.

Chelsea, the oppressions of the past are still visible in our country. A clear illustration of this is the wealth and income inequalities in our country. To answer the comment about moving forward, I have to say that it is still impossible with black people still having an entrenched idea that they are inferior. This idea stemming from the actions from the past. It is therefore impossible to move on until this has been rectified. South Africa has 11 official languages to ensure equality for all cultures. Therefore, in order to move to a point of getting over the past, wouldn’t it be better if more languages and not just English and Afrikaans were mandatory?

Wow … I can understand that you may have a preference of race. In my opinion, there’s a fine line between freedom of speech and hate speech as well. I understand u expressing ur feelings about your specific situation, but it isn’t necessary to use such vulgar language and derogatory terms. I also think that the entire idea of superiority that u seem to b implying, isn’t necessary because this country is now a democracy where we should all b seen equally, and although it may not b exactly like that now, things are beginning to balance out from the past. Just because racist things happened in the past and are still happening, why don’t u be the person to stand up against it if it bothers u so much??

These comments about “you should have taken it up with Ken” etc… Ken’s initial post was replied to in a very well meaning message which started with the words “Ken, with all respect”. Being the universal genius that he very clearly is, he decided to respond with that filthy garbage that’s reconstructed at the top of the page. I find it very odd therefore that there are arguments here that he should have been given a fair opportunity to respond. This isn’t about Ken. No one gives a flying f*ck about Ken! This is about his racist remarks. His experiences aren’t unique yet he, unlike the vast majority of people, has decided to make hasty generalizations from them and go on a hateful rant on Facebook. I’m truly shocked to see that some of your responses to this is to defend the champion who wrote it instead of calling him out on his statements. If you’re going to be an ignorant bigot, at least have the decency to do it behind closed doors where your hatefulness can’t affect those around you.

This is exactly why it doesn’t not seem like we are winning the fight against racism in this country! Ken your experience doesn’t justify your comments! As a black person there are areas in this country were black people are treated like rubbish. As a former student at the University of Free State, the hideous treatment that we received was a disgrace an yet we never threaten to shoot some white people an post remarks on facebook private or not. In short we all experience situations in this country that at any point good fume a racial war but common sense an reason must prevail over ignorance an ideology that potrays black people as monkeys! An part of the reason why we will never get rid of this disease is because people on both races don’t speak out an discourage their own races against this kind of speech an thats why you get people such as Anon making excuses for such post… People who post these kind of things should be exposed irrespective of race so that it can be discussed an people are shown when they are wrong!! this is so immature, if i had a friend on facebook, and i vented and they did this, u aint no more my friend, ur just immature, im studying law too, currently in my 3rd year, but i dont see it necessary to go posting this stuff on blogs and twitter, u have endangered ken now, and legally you could get caught up in a rut urself, as u have caused people to infringe on his safety as well as his mental state, but guess you didnt think clearly with that rush of blood tour head… in return, you’ve escalated this to an easily avoidable risk now, and you now have a portion of the black population threatening to kill him and sorts, good move on your side there anastasia, think before you do, as your actions involve others. if you give, you must expect to take. cheers

im not helping the situation? and you are? by putting his life in danger now? you could be the one facing court and not him… but you wont think like that, you have placed ken in harms way because of what he has said to his friends on facebook, for him expressing himself to something that asks “whats on your mind?”… you have gone out of your way, and i dont see a reasonable person doing what you have done, which would be questioned, and if this isnt ana, its certainly in connection with someone close to ana, as her twitter and facebook pages show intentions of a blog just like this one posted, very clearly

dont try start arguments when people are doing the exact same thing but you’re turning a blind eye to it

Every one is entitled to their own opinion, but I do think you made massive generalisations- people are not their countries and while you may feel victimised, so did the “blacks” during apartheid. I could also say that I am hugely racist being a Zimbabwe citizen- we lost everything, and many blame the “blacks” like you are doing. But that would be me generalising like you are. There are good people, bad people, lazy people, hard working people everywhere in every country, race and religion. The sense of entitlement you seem to hate so much is the same sense of entitlement with which you posted your 1st comment.

Ken’s reply to Anna shows just how unintelligent he is. How does he move from accusing black peolple of being racist to Rome being more advanced than Africa?? His ideas are based mainly on imense generalizations. Yes, there are many young black people who are still extremely bitter about apartheid and are actually racist, but that’s because they have been indoctrinated by their still-bitter parents, who are supposedly sweeter and kinder than their youngsters. I think you are the most ignorant human being I have ever come across and as much as you think the black people are the cause of all that has gone wrong in our country, you are probably one of the biggest contributing factors to our country being this way. As appalling as the status and subsequent comments are, identification of the writer holds no merit. The aim is to curtail racism and placing emphasis on one individual does not achieve this. The message that you are trying to get across would hold just as much merit with or without the presence of the individuals’ identity. Despite the fact that the statements made are extremely inappropriate and riddled with hatred, the presence of his identity serves no purpose. The individual’s identity distracts people from attacking the issue of racism on social media and places a greater significance on the individual himself. I do not agree with any of the statements made by the individual, but if it is racism you are trying to curtail, don’t make him the face of it. We are trying to curtail racism, let’s attack racism and not an individual. The presence of his identity distract us from our goals: To end racial discrimination.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE LEGAL ACTIONS AGAINST THIS IDIOT #this is not a hate speech, its me expressing my freedom of speech#

This is just what some politicians need in order to defend their case further #Shoot the Boer# trial. Don’t want to condone that but you pushing a kind of an agenda that will later haunt you, your so called defendents, every white person out there and eventually South Africa as a whole, including BLACKS.

Every bone in my body is filled with rage, my integrity as a man before skill color is insulted just the same as every bone in Ken’s body is filled with racism.

What is so special about you Ken that every black men around you acts with hatred towards you?

You go on to saying that you have been called a white fucker. Just because it came from a black man, that is when you took note of it. Everyone has been called a fucker at some instance, doesn’t matter black or white.

You want special privileges? Go back to the UK. This land belongs to every South African regardless of whether you white or black, i mean South Africans who knows police brutality is an everyday issue, assaults by police officials is a constant event we collectively fighting against. Everyone who understands that some people have no decency.

Its either you are racist or you a fart that went out by mistake like ANNON said, “has it ever occurred to us that this are the thoughts of white people”. I feel sorry for those standing on your side cos you painting a fucked up image about white people. I’m starting to question if whether is this how every white person i hang around looks at me.

I have a whole lot of things and names to call you but i’m not going to instead to thank you that you’ve invited me to some of the white peoples thoughts. You not different to Verwoed and Terreblanch #spelling#. Their remarks were just the same as yours, but black people took it with a smile.

The same as Mandela taking power and still defining South Africa as belonging to both white and black regardless of how oppressed, deprived and exploited we were.

And another thing, those old folk’s you regard as humble like you mate, have been institutionalized by your old folks to regard everything that is white to everything that is “Best”. Read Biko “Black Consciousness” and other black authors who wrote on empowering black people before you end up in prison serving life sentence that’s if you wont already.

THIS IS ENOUGH TO GET YOU LOCKED DOWN IN POLSMORE #spelling# freedom of speech#

GOING BACK TO YOUR FRIEND OR WHAT EVER HE/SHE IS

This is your quote ” HOW LONG MUST WE PAY YOU FOR”?
Who said this is paying back, do you see white people giving up some of their assets for black people? Do see black people in white communities and companies threatening to take everything if they don’t share? Do you see a poor black man with a one room shack next to a sewage spreading hate speeches, Do you see a black student in the township sharing a text book with 10 other students promoting hate speech? The list list goes on. I wont even go further than this nxxx.

THE ONLY THING BLACK PEOPLE WANT IS TO EMPOWER THEMSELVES AND AT NO ONE’S EXPENSE AND THAT’S IT. I don’t see whats your # problem.

I’m taught not to involve emotions into politics but this is making me go through what my “HUMBLE” grandmother went through.

We whites just havto live with the fact that blacks sing songs about killing the boer … We whites arnt even allowed to mention the K-word but you allowed to call us a boer in a way of hatred ? That word that is used for blacks by some white people was never intended to be a term of racism .. Just as blacks call white boere .. We called blacks that word that we not even allowed to say now … This that Ken has said here has no way of ever getting him locked up .. He hasn’t said anything that’s against the law .. Hi.
I’m just a randomer who happened to come across Ken’s status and followed by that, this blog. I will share my opinion simply ’cause I can.

I believe that you’re all going round and round in circles. I think that you’ve all shared as much as you possibly could and anything else shared on the blog will just be rumbling on to no end whatsoever. I understand that every one here, and I’m sure a big majority in South Africa and all over the world, will agree with the fact that racism needs to end, at least to a major extent where no one undergoes uncomfortable and unjust situations in their day-to-day, wherever it is that they may live. However we should all take a look at ourselves first and foremost, before setting out goals to change the world, such as education for those who are unaware of these issues, kicking out Ken or anyone else who shares his views, and so on. If we all began doing this, no one would have felt the need to even open up this blog – although looking at it from a positive perspective, it did open a door for discussion (as well as hate-speech, and not just from Ken’s part. But I guess there’ll always be a bit of everything). Even so, I find it wrong to have named Ken and exposed him in such a way. It is true that he shared his views on a public platform, but if harm has already been done due to that alone, why would you then add more fuel to the fire? Because that is exactly what I think this has done. Two wrongs don’t make one right. Nothing ‘right’ has come out of this and it’s simply because of the fact that we get too caught up pointing fingers and thinking that that is a way to self-righteously live with ourselves.

I am in no way justifying Ken’s use of language and the way he chose to express himself at all. I very firmly disagree with it and I think that a lot lies in those two factors, because perhaps something better could’ve sprung from his views, instead of even more hatred. However, I also disagree with the way that – seemingly – everyone chose to get caught up in his racist remarks rather than on the message he tried to bring across. It is as simple as this: there is a deep resentment within South Africa (and I pinpoint South Africa because this is an issue that is widely known to be specifically taking place there as a consequence of what took place during Apartheid) and it does not only come from the black people. It’s a resentment that is shared, given out, taken in and spread like a plague. The whites with their superiority complex which boils down to ignorance and the blacks with their inferiority complex which boils down to the exact same thing. And I call it ignorance as opposed to a ‘consequence’ of Apartheid because this is the 21st century, and all this talk reflects just how behind we still are, which is just ridiculous. There is racism because of us. We are supposed to be the change we wish to see in the world but we choose to get caught up in racists issues just to cover up the bigger problem. I honestly believe that everyone here as well as around the world should do themselves a favour and work on themselves more so that the need to play victim and point fingers (which is just so extremely easy to do) can be ruled out as an option altogether.

Enough with stating what happened 300 years ago or even further back. It is in the past. I understand that the person who created this blog had the intention of “taking action” here and now, but I think it could’ve been done in a smarter way. I’m not judging, I’m simply sharing an opinion. Naturally, more people will comment after this, but I refuse to get caught up in it because I find it unhealthy and a complete waste of time. You’ve all said what you had to say, now don’t let your words resume to mere words and turn them into actions. It is pathetic to see how, as soon as something of this nature takes place, everyone draws a dividing line and takes on the judging stance, as if we even have the right to judge anybody, as if we’re free of fault. I would like to wake up to a day where ‘unity’ is not just spoken of, but acted upon. Now go do what you must, and get over all of this, it isn’t changing a thing.

    Regards.

The kak treatmeng we got from white doctors was appalling. These dudes wouldnt even speak in English, they spoke in Afrikaans and when we asked them VERY HUMBLY to use English one said we should know Afrikaans if we want to take him there. I didnt go on a social network and call all white people racists. I was pissed but I knew its their local shitty behaviour not all white or even Afrikaner behaviour. Ken is spitting on the faces of the great Robert Sobukwes, Nelson Mandelas, Chris Hanis and millions of black professionals who have education and are working in their jobs with and for or employing white people. i qoute “grand daddy was too busy raping black pipl and oppressing our grand fathers that he forgot to get on the gravy train” this alone in a racist comment as you putting all whites under one blanket just as ken did thus making you JUST AS BAD AS HIM, you write “pipl” what is that meant to be? your ignorance shines. you then go on to say “ike the rest of the whites” ONCE AGAIN you are putting all whites under one blanket therefore doing just what ken did, now i hope someone start a blog about your comments and doesnt point you out, as that would be against the point, we needa fight racism not ken, the whole hype has been made about ken and not actually the problem at hand which is racism. there are racist blacks and there are racist whites. both need to move on, yet every one is in a up roar about ken. by the way sir, i happen to attend the government ‘skul’ you talk of and it is a good instatution. and another thing my so called racist grandfather which you assume was raping black people was the one who helped, hid the very same people that fought for your freedom, and faught against aparthed. so you are the ignorant person here

IN RESPOND TO READ ON THIS:

I think you not clued about the South African constitution. How is what Ken said different from what Julious Malema said about “shoot the Boer” before looking at him as politician. If singing that got him standing on trial then what would stop Ken from going through the same thing?

You guys (white people) have no idea what apartheid did do you? You think we (blacks) would just get personal over it without a valid reason?

A country will never move forward unless you forgive the past. My brother was killed by a black man, yete you do not see me hate every black person out there do you? Heck myt girlfriend is black!

I am white, born and raised in Africa. That makes me an African. Anyone want to disagree, needs to work on their education.

Ps. I see many people generalizing and hating on the one white racist. I say let him burn, I don’t approve of his ranting. Yet I am hated by so many black people, even youth, that can’t let go of apartheid. Apartheid ended a long time ago, 20 years ago. The youth only has issues with it because of old racists drilling racial hate into their heads from early ages.

When I come across a racist, I just avoid, and refuse to engage them. No point in stooping to the level of a melon.

Ken has repeatedly mistaken the identity of the owner of this blog with that of his girlfriend’s ex friend. This is not her. this can be seen on the äbout” page.

I agree with Ken to a certain extent !!! BUT dude. You can not be calling other brothers and sisters “darkies and swine ….” And the all the other nasty!! That’s is just totally wrong and IGNORANT of you and disrespectful and sooooo UGLY !!! You reached below their level
I hate the behaviour of some people but LIFE IS TOUGH bra…period!! YES there is a NEW BREED that irritates the shit out of the rest of SouthAfrica but we need to get over that!! Because we the rest of South Africa work with, have relationships with black people. And those individuals and the many many more that haven’t adapted this K@k mentality do no deserve this generalization!

I LOVE YOU my Country but these people the we are talking about can’t go on thinking that the rest of the country owes then something!! Because I can tell you now the there is a lot of people like Ken around and I personally don’t want to see more of this “social racism” happening. Or God forbid something major happens

I see their behaviour and don’t agree I pull my face funny push my nose up and say SIES!!! And then life goes…

Well that’s me but I blame “that breed” for Kens behavior!! They made him this way

CPUT condemns incident of hate speech

The CPUT has noted the furore surrounding a racist rant posted by a private individual on Facebook. This post subsequently went viral on further blogs, provoking a storm of controversy and fierce debate. The university condemns in the strongest possible terms the original post on Facebook.

This malicious and misguided comment amounts to hate speech, and while freedom of speech is a value which our society strives for, hate speech can never be tolerated. Should such provocative statements continue, CPUT reserves the right to report the matter to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

Furthermore we believe the attitude expressed in the post is totally unreflective of the mindset of the vast majority of our students and staff. Part of our core values as a university are to deal with others in a spirit of Ubuntu.

We wholly support the principle of equity and are committed to governing all our interactions with a spirit of mutual respect.

If you wanna know how serious these comments on social media are, have alook at what happened to FHM model Jessica Leandra. Please read below from IOL.co.za from 55 minutes ago today.

A 20 year-old FHM model has sparked outrage on Twitter after using the ‘K’ word in a tweet.

2011 FHM Models Competition winner Jessica Leandra (@JessicaLeandra) posted a tweet in which she said: “@JessicaLeandra: Just, well took on a on arrogant and disrespectful k***** inside Spar. Should have punched him, should have.” Following angry responses to her comment, Leandra deleted the offending tweet.

Leandra is a model and ambassador for charities such as Little Eden.

Reacting to outrage on Twitter at her comment, she then responded: “Would u all stop! These are the kinds of people that land up raping young girls of our country! I wasn’t going to let him get away with it.”

Reacting to the comment, FHM South Africa distanced itself from Leandra and said on Twitter: “We’re horrified that any1 would say such things! Those attitudes have no place in society or FHM!”

Leandra then posted an apology on her blog (http://jessicaleandra.com/apologies/) saying that she had acted in anger.

Columnist Mabine Seabe tweeted that he had reported Leandra’s outburst to the South African Human Rights Council.

Last month, law firm Webber Wentzel said South Africans who are found making racist comments on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook can be jailed.

The law firm’s social media lawyer Emma Sadleir said that South Africans who post racist and offensive comments (also known as cyber-smearing) via social networks could be charged with crimen injuria or hate speech.

Sadleir said that comments posted on Facebook or Twitter are treated in exactly the same way as comments made in any other public forum, be it on TV or radio, in a newspaper or in public discourse
